In 1987, East-West Seed achieved a breeding breakthrough in tropical pumpkin (calabaza in Spanish) after three years of trials at Hortanova Farm in the Philippines. That first hybrid, named Suprema, yielded large crops of smooth-skinned, orange-fleshed fruit weighing 4.0 kg. Since then, we have developed multiple high-performing varieties that meet the unique needs of farmers and market in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America.
