East-West Seed Foundation holds training on year-round vegetable production

31 January 2019

East-West Seed Foundation Philippines trained twenty-seven (27) individuals to become successful vegetable farmers through its year-round vegetable production training called “VeggiEskwela”, held on January 22 to 25, 2019.

The participants came from different backgrounds; there were newbie farmers, professionals, students, enthusiasts, and retirees.

The four-day training has a very comprehensive curriculum covering trends and opportunities in the vegetable industry, crop and farm planning, soil management, seedling production and management, major horticultural practices, pest and disease management, new technologies, and marketing of vegetables. These were taught through lectures and hands-on exercises.

“Over the years we have seen many farmers who were able to send their kids to school, buy more land, a house, a farm, a car, and fulfill all their other dreams because of vegetable farming. This proves that vegetable farming can be a viable business, and we want to help more people to become successful farmers,” says Crisanto Sabino, Executive Director of East-West Seed Foundation Philippines.

Remaining training courses for this year are as follows:

  • May 7 to 10, 2019
  • July 23 to 26, 2019
  • October 22 to 25, 2019

The trainings will be held in East-West Seed’s Head Office in San Rafael, Bulacan. For more details, e-mail ph.veggieskwela@eastwestseed.com or call 09178147300. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/veggieskwela
