“Working with East West Seed is like being an instrument of success for the people we serve.”
In 1983, fresh out of college, Daisy joined East-West Seed as a Research Assistant. She is one of the five pioneering employees of the company when it is just starting in a 5-hectare research farm in Lipa City.
Working in a starting company was nothing short of challenges for Daisy. But the passionate people she worked with and the family-like culture of the company has fueled her to keep going.
“The passion of the East West Seed founders, Simon N. Groot and Benito M. Domingo, to serve and improve the lives of smallholder farmers, coupled with sincere support to the growth and development of all stakeholders have inspired and kept me for 34 years (and counting) in the company,” Daisy shares.
As a breeder, she has been instrumental in the development of successful hybrids both local and global. Aside from working in Research and Development, she has also played roles in Technology Transfer and in seed operations.
Currently, Daisy leads the development and management of the research facilities in the country. She also facilitates the development of local research staff and ensures effective implementation of local breeding and research programs.
I am fulfilled and proud to be part of a team who struggled from scratch to successfully achieve its mission while continuously growing together with partners and stakeholders.”
