The long-term preservation of East-West Seed germplasm (seeds) including local materials and crop wild relatives and, its partnership with national and international genebanks in the area of crop germplasm conservation, research and capacity building are amongst the leading practices in the industry.

East-West Seed has established the Genetic Resource Management Function that is tasked to safely preserve its valuable germplasm, ensure proper documentation and maintain good quality seeds for present and future use.

East-West Seed has strong ties with national  genebanks in the area of genetic resource conservation and capacity building. These partnerships demonstrate the important contribution of the private seed sector in rescuing local germplasm from extinction and, in germplasm conservation and management. They also open opportunities of research collaboration in discovering high impact genetic traits present in local germplasm for utilization in crop improvement programs.

Further, we support the Global Crop Diversity Trust, one of the tripartite organizations which established and now manages the Svalbard Global Seed Vault (pictured left), a unique storage facility whose aim is to safeguard seed samples from around the world.
