Story

Maaike Groot is a 7th generation member of a family of seedsmen. After building a career in art sales and academic publishing she followed in her father’s footsteps by joining the family business East-West Seed, a vegetable seed company specialized in tropical vegetables.

Since Maaike joined East-West Seed in 2014 she has worked on profiling East-West Seed as an international purpose-driven company with solid Dutch roots and a strong local foothold in the tropics, connecting European stakeholders to the vast business and R&D network spread from the East-West Seed headquarters in Bangkok throughout the equatorial zone.

She is currently active in building relationships with Dutch and European key decision makers from public institutions, government agencies, academia, seed industry associations and related business organizations in order to communicate East-West Seed’s work and aspirations and to create partnerships to support the company’s vision.
